The Ring of Fire

A couple of weeks ago Liesl introduced us to an old friend of hers at the Plaza. The conversation went from how we knew Liesl to circles of friends and he started talking about his friends. We were comparing notes and all agreed that sometimes, having a circle of friends is more like dancing in a ring of fire. In the ring of fire everybody gets burnt! Everybody. And everyone is responsible for burning someone else. My first burn was by a "friend"(mrs. hutton) who for 7 years thought I was bumpin uglies with her man behind her back. I made light of it until the New Year's Eve that I split with my husband. Just for shocks I kissed a girlfriend of my at midnight and Mrs. Hutton went nuts. Screaming to the top of her lungs "Your a lesbian!" I'm thinking which is it? Lesbian or fucking your man behind your back? Shortly after I stopped speaking to Mrs. Hutton. A few months later I was divorced and Mrs. Hutton & her long time honey had broke it off. Now, I can't say I started dating him just to spite her, but it did occur to me that she would feel the burn. And round and round we go. She and I are now on speaking terms. I even helped her move into her new garden home. So anyway- The Saturday night after all this circle burn talk, everyone else had made plans to celebrate with my ex-husband for his birthday. And while that burn was only mildly annoying, I still felt the sting. So what did I do? I went to the Player's house to watch Napoleon Dynamite. The Player is the ex boyfriend of Tori and Liesl, the same guy from this post. And the circle is completed. Kid: "What are you going to do today, Napoleon?" Napoleon: "Whatever I feel like I wanna do … gosh!"

Yes I saw the movie- dry humor, VERY dry. I am still amazed that something with a PG rating could make me laugh that much.
