Be the Change...

I saw a refrigerator magnet at the Birmingham Museum gift shop the other day that said "You must be the change you want to see in the world." -Gandhi. I think I shall. Not that you could tell by my actions lately, but I used to be a church goer. I have mentioned before that religion in my life has been self inflicted. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is where I was baptized when I was 19. For about 2 years after I dove in- I taught Sunday school to four year olds, fell in love with a missionary, sang in the Christmas choir, baptism for the dead at the temple in Atlanta. If the church doors were open, I was there. I still believe that God is our heavenly father and that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Yeshua Ha Mashiah. It has been quite some time since I abstained from tea or alcohol. I do not even own a dress that would be suitable for Sunday worship. Therefore, I no longer call myself a Mormon. It has recently been brought to my attention that certain beliefs that I own are directly contrary to the platform of the Democratic Party. For example: I believe in the death penalty. I am steadfast in this belief. Not only do I believe in it, but I think they should cut into regular programming to broadcast all executions. I am also unwavering in my value of personal preparedness. In other words I think it would be wise if everyone took advantage of their right to bear arms. EVERYONE. I could go on and maybe in future posts I will. The point is, I have decided that I shall no longer call my self a Democrat. Will that change the way I vote? Probably not. I also believe in the separation of church and state. Which leaves "Gods Own Party" still very much unappealing.
